Back to the EKL

Game 5: (4-0-1)
14 September vs. Blue Valley North at BVN (5-2)

Well, the tournament is over and we start the second quarter of our season back in the EKL, that houses teams who we will play our next 4 games against. Although North is a known quanity as we played them in summer league, we have never played at the high school. The DAC was double booked, so we were relegated to the practice field—it is a nice turf field.

Coach Turner does a nice job of coaching the Mustangs, and it definitely showed tonight. They took it to us in the first half, countering us twice with two nice goals.  Their formation gave us some problems in the midfield as well; so we were pretty much on our heels all first half.

We moved Garcia to the "6" for the second half, having Weinrich take over at right back for him. Now granted we made a few other adjustments and corrected a couple of things, but Garcia's impact at the "6" had a lot to do with our success in the second half as we blanked them 4-0.

Kitts was part of most everything as well as he had two nice assists and a goal in the second half. North still had a couple of nice attacks as well. Carter Diggs made two remarkable second-half saves in about a minute. (check it out)

And Ethan was Ethan, cashing two second-half goals.

B had an interview party after the match, interviewing all of our second half midfield (Kitts, Konnesky and Garcia, along with Diggs and Swags). We thought we did have a team effort to change the tide in that second half.

I am guessing it was a pretty entertaining match to watch, and I plan of doing just that when I get the video.

We are home Thursday against another good EKL team, BV Northwest.

This one will be one to remember as the boys showed some character in that comeback.
